Michael Lynn Henry

Michael Lynn Henry passed from this life on Aug. 31, 2021. He was 72 at the time of his passing. There will be a Graveside Memorial gathering for family, friends and former classmates at 2 p.m. on March 18, 2023, at Lost Prairie Cemetery, when his earthly remains will be laid to rest. Those in attendance will be welcome to share their recollections and memories of “Mike.”

Mike was born on March 18, 1949, to Charles Lindy Henry of Forest Glade and Mildred Williams of Tehuacana. He lost his parents before his second birthday and was raised by his grandparents, Elmer and Christine Henry of Forest Glade. He attended Forest Glade school and graduated from Mexia High School in 1967. Mike enrolled at the University of Houston pursuing a chemical engineering degree but got side-tracked by his love for music, the guitar, aviation, science fiction, astrophysics and all things that intrigued his sharp mind and wicked sense of humor.

He served with the 36th Division, 1st Battalion, 143rd Infantry Airborne, of the Texas Army National Guard and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a corrections officer (mounted). He later entered the residential construction business, where he spent most of his career.

Mike was a unique individual, not given to convention, who charted his path through life and enriched the lives of all who knew him. He loved recounting stories and experiences, often intentionally embellishing them for humorous effect. His presence at any gathering was always welcomed as he energized those around him. His laugh was infectious. He acquired a broad spectrum of knowledge and possessed a charisma that made anyone and everyone comfortable around him.

His family and close friends already miss his physical and spiritual presence and are aware that as we reflect on our memories of him, we do so with smiles on our faces.

Thank you, Mike. Rest in Peace.
