Martha Nell Lynch

Martha Nell Lynch passed away Dec. 21, 2019, in Mexia at the age of 72.   Memorial services are pending.

Martha was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Mexia to Clyde and Virginia Gregory Clark.   After graduating from Mexia High School, Class of 1966, she received a business degree from Durham Business School in Waco.   On July 30, 1980, she married Charles Adrian “Chuck” Lynch.

Martha began a long career, as a legal assistant, with attorney Roy Simmons.   Pat Simmons eventually took over his dad’s practice, and later, she joined him at the firm of Cannon & Simmons.   After Pat was elected district judge, she went to work for Limestone County as court administrator.   Through the years of working with Roy and wife, Virginia, she watched Pat and his siblings grow up and all become lawyers.   As a result of the many years they shared, Martha grew to think of them as her extended family; they were always there to support each other in every way.

Martha looked forward to being with her family over the holidays or anytime.   She was always, especially, anxious to see her great niece, Xanna; she was so proud of Xanna.

Over the years, Martha made numerous friends, maintained a close relationship with many former classmates and enjoyed living at her home at Lake Mexia, where neighbors looked out for each other.   She also had three special puppies, Sophie, Missy and Maggie that she dearly loved.   Martha enjoyed watching the sunset, traveling with friends, most anywhere, but especially to the beach.

Martha was blessed to have many special friends and family to help and support her in so many ways during her illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Clyde and Virginia Clark; her husband of almost 34 years, Chuck Lynch; and sister, Mary Mortimer.

Martha is survived by two nephews, Michael Mortimer and wife Natayla of Eugene, Ore., and Chris Mortimer of Grapevine; great niece, Xanna of Eugene, Ore.; and brotherin-law, Robert Mortimer of Mexia.
