Janis Newton Antoine

Janis Newton Antoine was born on April 27, 1959, to Fred and Alma Swanson Newton.  She attended Groesbeck Independent School District and graduated in 1 977.  

Janis attended Dennis Chapel Methodist Church at a young age.  She later united with Andrew Chapel Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B.T. Jones.  Janis was a choir member for many years.

Janis attended Navarro College and completed her Associate Degree in Sociology in 2007.  She was employed with Mexia State Supported Living Center until her health began to fail.  

She later met and married Wilbert Antoine.  

Her parents preceded her in death.  

She leaves to celebrate her life:  daughters Mary “Poo” Davis and Jalisa Davis; brother Fred Newton Jr.;  aunt Ruby Faye Swanson;  children she reared and raised as her own: Crystal, Jerome, Corey, Jonathan, Keith and Patrick;  special friends Covia Hines and Pearl Amos; and a host of loving cousins, relatives and friends.  

Funeral arrangements and service entrusted to Pearly Gates Funeral Home.  Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at Andrew Chapel P.B. Church of Groesbeck.
