Gloria Gene Hoyne

Gloria Gene Hoyne, 79 of Mexia, passed away on March 17, at the Mexia LTC. 

Gloria was born at Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland on Nov. 13, 1943, to Earl Gene and Bonnie Lee Rupkey Ferris. She married Carm Hoyne on June 26, 1969, and had been in the Central Texas community since 1984.  

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Bonnie Ferris; son, Bryan Kirby; daughter, Tiffanylee Stalinsky.  

Survivors include her husband, Carm Hoyne; children, Connie Destache and husband, Mark,  Nancy Conley; grandchildren, Jon Leibowitz, Chris Cruz, Greg Leibowitz and wife, Liv Ransom Gregory and wife, Sierra, Cheyenne Ray and husband, Jonathan Ray, Tristen Quade and Trevor Quade and wife, Katy; great-grandchildren, Faith Campa, Angelina Destache, Samantha Ray, Jackson Ray, Lyla Haight, Malachai (H.T.) Quade and Hendrix Gregory.  

This poem was written by Carm, Gloria’s husband and best friend.  

They tell me things are bigger

In Texas

Now I got me a heartache that 

Bigger than this state.

For 54 years, she loved me with 

All her heart

Now’s the first time we’ve 

Ever been apart

Tobacco killed her, and that’s 

A fact

Oh God, I love her, and I want

Her back

How can I make it without 

Her compassion, loyalty and

Her smile

Her affection, honesty and 

Her style

Will be remembered for a long, long 

While.
