ARNOLD ROY KEELING

Arnold Roy Keeling, 91, of Wortham, passed away on Aug. 13, 2021, at his residence. Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 16, at Jones Funeral Services Chapel, with John Smith, officiating. Interment followed at Wortham Cemetery. Visitation with the family was held on Sunday evening from 6:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Keeling was born Oct. 4, 1929, to Roy and Bess Calame Keeling. Upon graduation from high school, he served his country in the Army in World War II and Korea. After his service, he returned to Wortham, working in his parent’s store, Keeling Grocery & Market. After that, he worked as an assistant mail carrier and then retired as a mail carrier with the postal service. He was a lifetime cattle rancher and loved telling stories and jokes.

Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; sons Scott and Johnny Keeling; grandson Shelby Carroll; his parents; and sister, Delores Beirpounch.

Survivors include his daughter, Stacy Johnson and husband Nolan, of Wortham; son Kerry Dale Keeling of Houston; daughter-in-law Dianna Keeling of Houston; granddaughters Kasi Wright and husband Sam, and Jami Grela and husband Tom; great-grandchildren Samantha, Alex, Jordan, T.J., Hannah, Luke and Shelby; nieces Mona and Jean; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers were Shane Sandhoff, Brad McReynolds, James Carroll, Tom Grela, Sam Wright, Arthur “Chunky” Busby, Bob Burney and Clint Bennett. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Goolsby, Paul Goolsby and David Wren.
