ALICE MAE DANNER

Alice Mae Danner, formerly of Mexia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 28, 2021, at the age of 90. A graveside service was to be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2, in the Tehuacana Cemetery, with the Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.

Alice was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Sargent, to R.E. and Albenia (Sedlacek) Leaser. She married Thomas Lynn Danner on May 14, 1966, in Liberty County. They moved from Lakewood Heights, in the Houston area, to Mexia in, or around, 1970 to help with Lynn’s parents. They owned and operated Flowerland Florist and Nursery for many years. Alice helped in the business while also teaching homebound students for Mexia ISD, and later, as Secretary to Assistant Principal, Mr. Bobby Anglin; she retired in 1996.

Alice and Lynn were the proud parents of three children, twins, Mary Alice and Timothy, and Lynda. She was a hard worker, dedicated Christian, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She thought there was nothing greater than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they truly owned the majority of her heart. Although Alice was busy working several jobs, her first, and most important job was taking care of her family. Working for the school was a perfect job for Alice as she loved children; and if they needed help with anything, she was never too busy to help them.

Alice was always cheerful and greeted everyone with her beautiful smile. She enjoyed studying her Bible every day and looked forward to going to Bible studies. When time permitted, she enjoyed crocheting and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; R.E. and Albenia Leaser; her husband of 41 years, Lynn Danner; five sisters and one brother.

Alice is survived by her loving children, Mary Alice Holloway and husband Michael, Timothy Danner and wife Amanda Jo, and Lynda Seymour and husband Guy; grandchildren Maegan Alice Smith and husband Josh, Aaron Holloway, and Maelynn Danner and Brian Meyers; great-grandchildren Ian Holloway, Haisley Alice Smith, and Kody James Meyers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
