This week at Mexia LTC we started the week off with in-room reading about the “Good Ole Days” on Monday morning. Residents played hallway bingo on Monday afternoon.
Many brave men fought for Texas independence. Some were lucky to be remembered and volumes of books were written about their character and deeds, while others had only a mention. Such was the life of Hendrick Arnold, a black man who fought in several battles for Texas freedom and independence.
The Mexia Police Department answered a call last week about an assault, during which one of two men fighting allegedly hit a woman in the face. Officers also arrested a man who allegedly got out of control and started destroying a house; and also arrested a man for burglary at a church.
The Mexia ISD school board voted unanimously to move the start of school back two weeks to Aug. 27 at a special meeting called explicitly for that purpose on Monday at the Mexia High School library.
