The Mexia State Supported Living Center held an event Friday, July 9, to mark the facility’s first 75 years, what they called its semi-sesquicentennial.
Limestone County commissioners seized an opportunity to spend some of the county’s unanticipated revenue at their meeting Friday, July 9, authorizing the purchase of a new tractor for the fairgrounds and a stacker for the Road and Bridge Department.
Mexia residents decided they could not let the city’s 150th anniversary, or sesquicentennial, pass without marking the day, so Mexia Downtown put together a parade, speeches by officials marking the opening of a time capsule that was buried in 1971, and more, including food trucks, soft drinks, canned and live music and other festivities.
Two Mexia baseball players earned Academic All-State honors from the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association for the 2021 season.
