The entryway of Mexia High School was a sight to behold Friday, with all the food donations stacked every which way. “We are so blessed to live in a community that gives back so much,” said Sheena Shaw, MHS Student Council sponsor. Mexia residents who took advantage of the Mexia Bulk Trash Drop-Off Event Saturday and Sunday kept City of Mexia Streets Department employees, from left, Mike Barkouskie, Abel Delamora and Jeffrey Proctor busy. They agreed this event was far more successful than the previous one. It was so successful that the trash bins were filled by Sunday afternoon. Republic came out and exchanged the bins for empty ones Monday morning, so the event continued til 6 p.m. Monday. Photo by Curtis Burton/The Mexia News
