Success stories encourage students to continue educational journey

People in Limestone County who want to improve their English-speaking skills or prepare to take a high school equivalency test will have a convenient way to do just that starting later this month using free classes being offered at Navarro College South. The cost of the courses is being funded by the Texas Workforce Commission so students may take the classes at no charge, and study materials are provided.

Runoff election is here

Texans voted in the primary elections in March, but not every race had a definitive winner. Early voting for the primary runoff election to confirm candidates for certain races began Monday, May 16. The last day of early voting is Friday, May 20, and Election Day is Tuesday, May 24.

Three Texas High School Football Hall of Famers from Mexia got together at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Waco on Saturday. They are (from left) Bob Wright, long-time editor of The Mexia News; Ray Rhodes, a Class of 2022 inductee who graduated from Mexia High School in 1969 and went on to a long career in the National Football League as a player and coach; and Coach Bob McQueen, who was Rhodes’ coach at Mexia in the late 1960s.
