The Mexia ISD school board is slated to vote on four items at its regular meeting Monday, including a proposal on how grades and promotion will be determined in light of the school shutdown due to the COVID-19 threat.
The reward for leads in solving the 1985 murder of a Mexia woman, has been increased from $3,000 to $6,000.
The parking lot at Jim’s Krispy Fried Chicken is marked off for renovation work that has been going on this week. The work is being done by Rivera Building of Groesbeck. Alfonzo Rivera Sr., said the renovations could be completed as early as this coming week. The restaurant is closed due to the coronavirus precautions.
When the Texas Department of Criminal Justice wrote all Texas sheriffs April 11 that it would no longer accept county inmates, effective Monday, April 13, all sheriffs in the state had to assess how the decision would affect their respective jails.
Limestone County commissioners court discussed a request from Sheriff Dennis Wilson to add his four supervisors to those receiving hazard pay. In a split decision, the commissioners turned down his request.
