Mexia ISD Superintendent Ryder Appleton spoke recently toboththeRotaryClubofMexia and the Mexia Lions Club about a variety of issues the district is facing, mainly a financial shortfall as a result of state actions.
The Jonathan Hardin Chapter, National Society Daughters of theAmerican Revolution Inc. hosted a Veteran’s Appreciation Luncheon in conjunction with the monthly chapter meeting on Nov. 13.
Multiple wreath-laying ceremonies will take place in Freestone and Limestone counties as part of National Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, Dec. 14, joining more than 4,700 locations nationwide. Coordinated by local volunteers, including the Jonathan Hardin Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), more than 630 veterans’ wreaths will be placed on headstones to honor fallen service members.
Mexia High School’s robotics team is heading to state after winning a tournament in Dallas on Saturday, Nov. 16. They finished first in their 3A and 4A division and placed second overall out of 32 teams.
