9 a.m. – Cancer Benefit for Porkchop – At The Cowboy Western Club – 100% of the proceeds benefit Porkchops medical expenses. –  Cornhole tournament run by Oil City Bombers Switcholio with a $25 entry fee, silent auction, several gun drawings, $10 BBQ plates and live music by 45 South at 7 p.m. – Contact Johnnie Wayne Brown Jr on Facebook for tickets for the gun drawing. 9:30 a.m. – The Freestone County Art League will meet – At the Church of Christ in Teague – The program will be given by Hannah Spradlin and Margaret Tolar – The hostess will be Susan Patton, Ruby Day and Tommy Hullum – The program will be watercolors. Each member should bring their watercolors – Anyone interested in art is invited to attend.

6:30 p.m. – ‘Groesbeck is Groovy’ Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet – at the Groesbeck Convention Center, 106 E. Navasota – $20/Ticket, $150/table of eight – Purchase tickets at the Groesbeck Journal, Clean Cut Cleaners & Opal Cactus Boutique, or Black Cactus Armory – The chamber is taking donations for silent auction items – Menu will consist of a mixed salad with almond, strawberries and mozzarella cheese tossed with lemon vinaigrette, grilled chicken breasts with bbq and melted cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, tres leches cake, iced tea and water, catered by Joe Fridays – For more information, please contact the Groesbeck Chamber at 254-729-3894.

8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. – Groesbeck Spring Citywide Cleanup – The City of Groesbeck will provide a citywide cleanup event for Groesbeck citizens – Large dumpsters will be placed at the city lot located at 102 E. Jacinto, across from the old football field near the recycling cent, for city residents to discard items that are inappropriate to place in the regular trash pickup. 

Saturday, May 6 

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Groesbeck Spring City-wide Garage Sales and the Groesbeck Chamber Annual Spring Peddlers Market. Details on vendor booth reservations and garage sale listings will be released in March.

Saturday, June 10 

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Fort Parker State Park – Texas Parks and Wildlife – Celebrate Texas State Parks turning 100 years old with a community-wide birthday bash! – All activities are free! – Canoeing, kayaking and paddleboard rides, tour boat rides, dutch oven cooking, face painting and more. – Entry to a park is free when it hosts an official 100-year celebration event. – This is one of many events happening at Texas State Parks this year.
