Klosterman, Proctor lead ’Cats on all-district team

Five Mexia baseball players earned All-District 18-4A honors for the 2018 season.
Zac Klosterman was voted a first-team pitcher and Jaden Proctor was named a first-team outfielder. J.R. Deichler was a second-team pitcher and B.J. Sunday garnered second-team designated hitter honors. Marcos Gonzalez earned honorable-mention infielder.
Klosterman, who was a second-team all-district pitcher last year, had a 4.00 earned-run average in 42 innings of work. The senior right-hander surrendered 45 hits, walked 34 and struck out 59. He also had an .895 fielding percentage. He has signed to play baseball at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster.
Proctor, the Blackcats’ center fielder, also was a second-team all-district outfielder last year. The sophomore batted .244 and had an on-base percentage of .404. He scored 10 runs, which was tied for second on the team, and stole six bases, which was tied for the team lead. In addition, he had an .875 fielding percentage.
