Soccer, other sports athletes honored at banquet

Mexia High School boys’ sports teams were recognized at the end-of-the-year sports banquet at the middle school cafeteria Thursday.
Varsity, junior varsity and freshmen teams were introduced one-by-one by their respective coaches.
One team that garnered a number of awards was the soccer squad. Coach T.J. Sadler led Mexia to the first district championship in school history.
The Blackcats set a record for most goals in a match when they scored 11 in a playoff game. Overall, the team scored 85 goals for the season which ranked sixth in the Central Texas region.
