One of Mexia H-E-B’s employees, Elizabeth “Liz” Perales, was recognized recently at a special event in Waco called the Women of Distinction celebration.
Perales was honored along with 23 other Central Texas H-E-B women employees on April 6 at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco. The award is intended to reward female employees for their devotion to excellence and civic leadership. Each winner received the most votes from their co-workers.
Perales found out about being named to receive the award a month ago.
“I was surprised, excited,” she said. “I’m honored.”
Perales said she found the celebration event highly enjoyable.
“It went great; it was inspiring,” she said. “We had lunch, then the speaker and the awards. We had a speaker, Suzanne, and she was really good. She was with H-E-B. She talked mainly about women’s history and about how they fought for us to have the rights we have now, and how we need to make the same impact they did.”
