Wortham teams fall in district games

District play continued for Wortham varsity basketball teams as each were on the road Friday night, playing against the Dawson Bulldog and Lady Bulldog squads.
In boy’s action, Wortham kept their game close in the first half, trailing by only two by the intermission, 24-22.
However, they ended up losing 49-40.
In the third, the Bulldogs got three-point baskets by Kemontrell Jackson and Michael McGlone, however, Dawson maintain the advantage and added to their lead by the close of the quarter with the score 37-31.
Wortham got into foul trouble in the fourth, sending Dawson shooters to the line eight times, resulting in six of 16 points being made at the charity stripe.
Dawson ended up outscoring the Bulldogs 12-9 in the final period, giving them the nine-point win.
