The Mexia Blackcats welcome new defensive coordinator Dustin Maddox to the coaching staff.
Maddox was a part of the Cedar Hill Longhorns coaching staff, along with new head football coach Frank Sandoval - who was hired back in April of this year.
Maddox - a native of Cedar Hill - played his high school football for Longhorns, helping the team win a state championship his senior year. He is one of a few coaches in Texas to win a football state championship as a player at the high school he graduated from and return to his alma mater as a coach to help guide the team to another state title.
Maddox also had the opportunity to play football for the legendary Joey McQuire (141 wins, 3 state titles in 14 seasons) and serve as an assistant under him.
