Boyd Burkeen

    Boyd Burkeen, 80, of Mexia, passed away peacefully March 6 at Acuity Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Porter Funeral Home Chapel with Daniel Burkeen officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 — 8 p.m. Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home.
    Mr. Burkeen was born Jan. 7, 1930, in Leon County, Texas, to William and Ruth Brooks Burkeen. He spent his childhood in central Texas and retired to Mexia in 1985 after 35 years with Houston Shell and Concrete.
    Mr. Burkeen was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen Valentine and son Gary Burkeen. He is survived by his daughters Rhonda Rogers of Houston and Wanda Marker of Channelview; son David Burkeen of Groesbeck; brother Lloyd Burkeen of Mexia as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
