Wortham wins Teague tourney in marathon game

    Late Saturday night, in a game that took 3 hours and 43 minutes, Wortham beat Teague, 18-8, to win the championship game in the Teague Tournament.
    Wortham run-ruled Meridian on Friday, with a final score of 16-0. Jake Jones went 4 for 4 with a home run, Hance Spencer was 3 for 4 with two doubles and a triple, Brandon Lansford was 2 for 3 with a double and Chris Perez was 2 for 3 with a double. Lansford was the winning pitcher.
    Wortham started Saturday off with a win over state-ranked Lovelady, with a final score of 10-1. Hance Spencer was 3 for 4 with a double, Bradley Paradoski was 2 for 4 with a double and Jones got his second home run of the tournament. Trace Shirley was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts and only allowing one hit in the five innings he pitched. Ty Williams pitched the last two innings and allowed no runs and hits.
    Wortham ended the tournament that night by scoring 18 runs on 14 hits. The Bulldogs broke open a 9-8 lead with two runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and four in the seventh. Bradley Paradoski was 4 for 4 with two doubles and five RBIs to lead the Bulldogs. Brandon Lansford was 3 for 4 and Ty Williams was 2 for 4. Ashton Gentry drew three walks and was hit by a pitch. Jakes Jones scored five runs. Hance Spencer was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs on three hits in 4 2/3 innings.
