Jack Brian Scarbrough

    MIDLAND — Jack Brian Scarbrough passed away at the age of 80 at Midland Memorial Hospital on Feb. 21.

    He was born May 11, 1929, in Palestine to Emmett T. Scarbrough and Ethel H. Montgomery. He married Yvonne Allen on Feb. 4, 1955.

    Mr. Scarbrough grew up in Mexia, graduating from Mexia High School in 1947. He graduated from Sam Houston State College in 1950 with a degree in business administration. In 1976, he received his MBA from Sul Ross University. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 — 1953.

    He moved to Midland in 1954 and worked as an accounting clerk for the Texas Company (now Texaco). He then worked for Lion Oil Company (now Monsanto) for 18 years as the personnel director and manager of lease rentals in the land department. He started teaching at Midland College in 1972 as an instructor of management. He was a sponsor of the Mu Alpha Management Club for many years.

    He retired in 1997 after 25 years. He was a member of First Christian Church.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

    Mr. Scarbrough is survived by his wife, Yvonne, his son, Brian Allen Scarbrough of Austin, and several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends 6 — 8 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 25) at Ellis Funeral Home, Midland.

    Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Mike Hunter and the Rev. Paula Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Sammy Martinez, Robert Elich, Paul Speight, Robbie Carlton, Ray Munoz, and Sammy Fields.

    Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.elllisfunerals.com.
